Bengaluru: Amid rising Covid cases, the BS Yediyurappa-drove Karnataka government has obviously expressed that it may settle on reimplementing "lockdown-like" checks across the days on the entirety of the week. Quite, the state bureau is booked to meet at 11 am, wherein a choice in regards to the burden of statewide lockdown is required to be taken. "End of the week check in time limitations are set up till May 4 and according to the rules, it will be there next Saturday, Sunday too. Conversations are on whether to uphold check in time on work days, if to go for complete lockdown," Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar said.
Addressing columnists in Dharwad, he said it would be examined at the bureau meeting tomorrow, following which Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa would report the choice. "We are not for lockdown, but rather the circumstance is with the end goal that we need to force limitations to manage things… we need to break the chain, it involves 10-12 days, we should see… when the numbers (cases) descend, limitations will likewise diminish," he added.
The meeting comes a day after a record 34,804 new cases were registered across Karnataka, with 20,733 in Bengaluru. With the fresh spike in cases, the state’s Covid tally shot up to 13,39,201, including 2,62,162 active cases, while recoveries increased to 10,62,594. Positivity rate rose to 19.70 per cent and case fatality rate was 0.41 per cent across the state on Saturday.
